Shine bright
This was our first project together as group. It was entirely recorded and mixed at azuré’s home studio. We started writing in October of ’05 and had it pressed by May ’06. As high school seniors, we were juggling school work and other activities while scrambling to find time to be in the lab. Amidst the then powerful hyphy movement of the bay area, we we’re heavily influenced by our surroundings and decided to have our foot in both doors for the project especially being relatively new musicians. We kept our underground roots but the mixtape itself was bouncing everywhere from DJ Premier instrumentals to home-made hyphy beats by local producers. We we’re very new to the process but everyone learns as they fall along the way and Shine Bright definitely offered us that fall.
We Have The Signature Sound
An entire 7 months had gone by since we had last hit the studio. We had dropped 2 singles since Shine Bright and they had really put us on the map. We got booked for over 15 shows over 6 months and had received a Myspace high with over 700 hits a day. Along with the minimal success we had seen, came massive networking possibilities. We had picked up Mr. DJ B-EZ as our newest member, but most importantly got hooked up with DJ Icewater of The Pharcyde. We had grown as emcees in content, delivery, and had found our direction of sound within Hip-Hop. This was our first professional studio album. Along with a team of high-end bay area producers, we pieced together our signature sound in 4 months. We were able to learn from a hella long list of mistakes from Shine Bright and really mold our sound for our first LP. Enjoy!
